What Toys Are Best for German Shorthaired Pointers?

German Shorthaired Pointers (GSP) are some of the best pups out there because they are always up for an adventure and extremely intelligent. So, how can we always make sure your German Shorthaired Pointer never gets bored? (Featured image via @PointerProblems!)

Let’s talk- Puzzles, chew toys, and balls!

Puzzles: A quick way to put a German Shorthaired Pointer’s skill for searching and discovering things, is to break out a puzzle. Since your GSP is most likely smarter than most human honor roll students, go ahead and start with an intermediate level puzzle like the Dog Brick Puzzle. Be sure to change up where the treats are hidden, to always keep your pup engaged.

Chew Toys: Tough chew toys like Benebones are essential to always have on hand. Tougher nylon-based toys help to ensure your GSP has an appropriate way to showcase their enthusiasm for chewing. Plus, they are a long lasting toy option made with all-natural flavoring + made in the USA with USA-sourced ingredients.

Balls: While balls might sometimes appear to be a boring or basic toy, they can be hours of fun for a German Shorthaired Pointer. Your pup has no idea where you’re going to throw the ball, which makes for an exciting hunting exercise. As a bonus tip, grab a ChuckIt! Ball Launcher to make sure your hands don’t get covered in drool and dirt. No one wants to grab a drool covered ball with their bare hands.

And if you want a regular delivery of toys for your GSP, check out BarkBox! With its creative monthly themes, top-quality products (all of them designed and made in-house), and incredible customer service, BarkBox is a great time for pups who love toys and treats. BarkBox also tailors each delivery to your GSP based on size, needs, and wants. Plus, all of the edibles are free from wheat, corn, and soy, and—most importantly—they taste delicious.

If your GSP needs tough toys, the Super Chewer BarkBox could be an awesome option for you. The Super Chewer version of the BarkBox is very similar to the one above (fun monthly themes, original products, and so on) but with the added benefit of having toys that are virtually indestructible. It’s made for the pups who want a bit more of a challenge for their teeth – and for you humans who are sick of throwing away destroyed toys five minutes after getting them.
