Dogs, like people, have different personalities. Some are content lying around the apartment all day, contemplating life (I guess), happy with going for a relaxing walk in the evening before turning in for the night. My dog Lady is not one of these dogs.
She is a devil on four legs, a zoomie aficionado, the zoomiest zoomer this side of the Hudson River. And I have to let her get it out of her system every day or she loses her mind. I’ve compiled this list of toys that will help your dog get all their energy out and then some, because an exercised pup is a happy pup.
Everyone knows squirrels are the devil’s oven mitts nature’s dog toy, so this interactive puzzle toy will definitely get your dog’s natural chasing and burrowing instincts activated. Anything to stop your dog from being their neighborhood’s squirrel terrorist is a good idea in my book.
This is one of my favorite inventions, mostly because it makes your pup look like a big fish caught on a line. Great for large dogs who love playing tug-o-war, the tether tug lets your dog pull with all their might for as long as you want while you sit back and watch. Your shoulders and back will thank you, especially if you’ve got a strong rambunctious pup.
Frisbees are a perennial favorite for getting your dog to soar through the air, but this particular one is made in the USA and is tougher than your average flying disc. I can’t tell you how many plastic frisbees my Lady has destroyed (she destroys them instead of bringing them back to me because that’s how she lives her life), so it’s nice to find one that’s designed to be more sturdy. And it floats!
I remember the first time I saw one of these at the dog park. My dog abandoned me and my puny throwing arm and ran over to play with the owner who was obviously doing a better job than me at this dog parenting thing. Seriously, this thing will get your dog tired out with minimal effort from you.
Your pup won’t need any encouragement to get out there fetching this 100% super-grade rubber toy, especially if you fill it with yummy treats!
Throw it, bounce it, tug on it, throw it in water—this toy is designed for hours of good, clean outdoor fun no matter what the terrain. A truly versatile toy for your multitalented pup.
Now your sore shoulder won’t be an excuse to keep your pup from getting the exercise he needs. Not gonna lie, it looks like tons of fun for the human, too. I mean when else do you get to shoot balls out of a mini cannon?
The K9 Kannon Ball Launcher is a dog send for those of us with a hyper pup who is still raring to go even though our arm is tired.
There’s no bonding like the bonding that comes from tossin’ the ol’ football around with your dog. This isn’t just your regular ball, though. Designed to bounce, float, and be filled with treats, this football is “made in the USA, just like football (well, the American version).” Just don’t fake-throw it too many times, for your dog’s sake.
