Pliéing Pups Teach Ballet Dancers How To Stay En Pointe

Ballet is a elegant and breathtaking art, but it’s also a stressful career that requires extreme training. The Dogist made a special visit to the American Ballet Theatre to photograph the pups who help the professional dancers stay en pointe. Many of the furrybutts (that’s the dogs, not the dancers) are fully trained in pirouettes, giselle lifts, and, most importantly, relaxing cuddles.

Even though the dancers are the professionals… well… these pups have lots to say about ballet…

1. “Let’s get this party started!”

Moo La, Maltese mix (2 y/o) – “She became a sister – I had a baby five months ago.”

2. “And one and two and three and four.”

Benson & Masie Forster, Shih Tzus (7 & 2) – “It’s his birthday today.”
