The Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office is rolling out the dog carpet one more time. More specifically, the infamous “In Dog We Trust” carpet. Though they’re not putting it back out for display (continuing to hide their dog pride), they are putting it out for auction! *Applause*

Though the Sheriff’s Office continues to insist the presence of the phrase “In Dog We Trust” on their official rugs was just a typo, they have managed to laugh at themselves and even turn this alleged “clerical error” into positive action for dogs. The money raised by auctioning the rugs will go to a local animal haven.

The official statement reads:

“We will not ‘sweep anything under the rug.’ Due to extensive interest regarding our plans for the ‘doggone’ rug, you can bid on it at the link below, and we will donate 100% of your bid to Canine Estates Inc., a local animal rescue.”

The rug will be available for bidding until 1:00 pm, January 21, 2015.

The Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office depends on their K9 service dogs to serve and protect the local community, and we only hope that this auction is another step towards open dog love on the part of state and local governments (and one day, the world!).

Until that day, at least Pinellas County has provided the opportunity to spruce up your crib with these kickass rugs! You can watch the press conference held at the Sheriff’s Office below.
