A press release issued by the Humane Society of Wicomico County reports that a kennel inspection in Eden, Maryland revealed conditions that were so bad, 300 dogs were ordered to be removed from the property.

WBOC 16 states that 100 dogs were kept in a house and another 200 dogs resided in a barn on the same property. Aaron Balsamo, executive director of the Humane Society, told WBOC there were puppies and pregnant dogs found living in horrible conditions. He described those conditions as having “no air flow, and feces everywhere” and that most of the dogs removed were Pomeranians.

Lt. Tim Robinson of the sheriff’s office says that it took 14 hours to remove all the animals, and that no charges have been filed yet. Wicomico State’s Attorney Matt Maciarello says they are approaching this in a way similar to how they treat child abuse cases and that each dog will be documented individually.

As you can see in the video above, the animals have been extremely neglected and will need a lot of work to get them healthy. While it is possible some may be transferred to other shelters, the Wicomico Humane Society certainly could use help.

Due to the overwhelming number of dogs, requested donations can be dropped off at any of the locations listed in the press release, including instructions for monetary donations:

The current needs for the Humane Society of Wicomico County are the following items:
Wet/Canned Dog Food (PLEASE DO NOT DONATE DRY BAGGED DOG FOOD), Dog/Puppy Treats, Fabuloso Cleaner (Purple), Gallons of Bleach, Chlorox Cleaner Spray Bleach, Paper Towels, Liquid Dishwashing Soap, Liquid Laundry Detergent, and Puppy Pads for lining kennels (PLEASE DO NOT DONATE NEWSPAPERS)

We will update as information becomes available.
