Eric Spinner and his tiny Border Terrier, Pippy, were out on a typical hike when they crossed paths with a 300 pound bear. Pippy immediately ran from the bear, but it was too late. The bear was fast on her trail.
Eric’s pawrental instincts went into overdrive and he started to attack the bear!
“I managed to put my hand out and slide it over to the stick and batted him on the nose. One hit was all it took for this ferocious, giant, majestic, strong bear to turn around and run away in the direction he came.”
Although Eric emerged the winner, the encounter almost cost him his life. He had severe wounds to his head, torso and arms. Despite that, he managed to make the hour-long hike back to his home, carrying a terrified Pippy in his arms.
The hooman doesn’t consider himself a hero. He did what he had to do to save a member of his family. Love does make us do dangerous things, but we still think Eric is an incredibly brave and amazing hero for risking his own life to save his pup.
