On Friday, Christina Grimmie, a YouTube star and former contestant on The Voice, was shot and killed while she was signing autographs for fans after a concert.
Christina left behind a legacy of love – love of music, family, friends, fans – and love of rescue animals, particularly dogs.
Last November, Christina lent her stunning voice to the Humane Society of the United States to speak for animals in need. She recorded Bonnie Tyler’s iconic song “I Need a Hero” and also performed the it at the Humane Society Gala in New York City to support their Become a Human Hero campaign.
At the time of her death, Christina was still actively involved with the Humane Society.

Like so many of us, her love for dogs turned her into a crazy dog person:
Guys I love dogs so much I will stop wat I am doing w any human ever just to play w a dog that is present

More than Christina’s angelic voice, the standout thing about her was her generous spirit – not just in how much she loved dogs, but her love for everyone. That graciousness lives on in all who loved her and our thoughts are with her family and friends.
For the next two days, you can donate to Christina’s Charity Champions League team to raise funds for the Humane Society of the United States. You can also make a general donation to the Humane Society.
Rest in peace, Christina.
