Around 4 P.M. on Monday, January 18th, a witness spotted a Shepherd mix being pushed from the passenger-side door of an older green Jeep Grand Cherokee. CBS New York reports the dog ran to the driver’s side only to be shoved away once more, according to Chief of the Suffolk County SPCA, Roy Gross.
As the Jeep drove away, the dog gave chase and was struck by a car coming down the opposite side of the road. Somehow, the only evidence of the impact is minor bruising. The Suffolk County SPCA ensured the dog was seen by a vet, and is currently caring for the pup. They are searching for anyone who recognizes the dog, or witnessed the event.
The incident occurred on Jerusalem Hollow Road in Moriches, New York. For anyone with information that could help the police find and arrest the individual, please contact the Suffolk County SPCA at 631-382-7722. All calls are kept confidential.
