The Glen Rose Animal Shelter made the announcement on Facebook, and we couldn’t be more thrilled! The shelter comments:

[Snickers] now has lots of room to run and a 10 year old girl to play with. She was so excited about Snickers she went right out and bought Snickers some new toys. We are so happy for Snickers!!! A wonderful new start with a wonderful new family!!!

Congratulations to Snickers and her lucky humans!

**Original Story**

Over a month ago, Snickers successfully alerted her sleeping family to the flames engulfing their RV. A spunky Shar Pei mix appropriately named for her super sweet demeanor, Snickers’ life now rests in the hands of the Glen Rose Animal Shelter in Texas.

If she doesn’t find a home soon, Animal Control Officer Loretta Adams says, the shelter may be “forced to do what [they] have to do.”

Adams has become especially close with the energetic pup. She informs CBS Local that Snickers woke the grandson of the family after repeatedly jumping through flames, singeing her paws. Despite her injuries, she managed to ensure everyone made it out safely.

The family has since relocated and was unable to take Snickers with them. For a month, she has called the Glen Rose shelter home, hoping that someone will see what a great dog she is. In other words, a hero, fetch aficionado, and known sneak-attack kisser.

A choked-up Adams says:

It’s heartbreaking because she saved their lives and they couldn’t… they couldn’t keep her. […] She’s a brave girl who saved her family, and I don’t understand how nobody would want a dog like that.

Of course, everyone is hoping that Snickers’ best day is right around the corner.

If you are in the area and would like to adopt Snickers, please call the Glen Rose Animal Shelter at (254) 897-3113.
