His nickname was “Eddie the Terrible.” The tan Chihuahua sat at the Humane Society Silicon Valley for more than a year as he waited for a family to accept his “colorful” personality. You see, Eddie wasn’t the most behaved dog. In fact, staffers at HSSV called him “a handful of a dog.” Incredibly dog-reactive, Eddie suffered from behavioral problems that kept him from being the ideal adoptable dog.
That’s when HSVV came up with a plan: instead of forcing Eddie to be something he wasn’t, they embraced his “quirkiness.”
The plan worked. “Eddie the Terrible” became a viral sensation, and soon enough, Eddie found the perfect family who loved him despite his hell hound reputation.
But then, the strangest thing happened: Eddie went through a transformation. Eddie’s new family changed his name to “Teddy the Beloved” and wrote on their blog that Teddy is now an emotional support dog for his human dad. At his new home, Teddy is calm, relaxed, and far from “terrible.” All the more proof that all rescue pups need is some loving from a doting family.
