When Joaquin Bastidas finished veterinary school in Chile, he planned to visit Europe for a much-needed break. With just his bike, Bastidas began his journey in France and intended to finish in Turkey, but stopped unexpectedly in Serbia for a brief five month pit-stop. Happens to all of us, right?
He stayed for a bit working on a sustainable green farm, and it was on the way home from a local store one day that he heard the desperate cries.
The winter in Serbia was not going easy on anyone—when Bastidas stumbled upon the seven puppies, he knew their chances of survival were slim.
He immediately left to discuss the situation with his landlord before bringing them back, and nursed each pup until they could eat solid food on their own. He even found homes for them all!
Well, except one. Mr. Dinosaur, as he’s now known, was the lucky dog that Bastidas chose to keep for himself, and the two continued their European bike tour until it was time to go home.
They arrived back at the airport in Chile with a lot of good memories and a best friend, and thanks to this human, Mr. Dinosaur’s siblings share the same fate. We need more human beings like this in the world!
