Stockard Channing, best known for her role as Rizzo in “Grease,” was devastated after having to euthanize her elderly Pittie, Fanula. But she honored her dog’s memory in the best way possible, by giving another dog a chance.
She reached out to Michelle Montak, director of Gimme Shelter Animal Rescue in Sagaponack, New York. Montak received a plea the same day from an animal shelter in Duplin, North Carolina, looking for someone to save a 1-year-old Pit Bull mix off the euthanasia list. Luckily Kony, now Benny, was the one that Channing wanted.
The shelter arranged to have the dog transported from North Carolina to his new home with Channing.
Montak said:
It was really touching. He really took to her right when they met. And she says that for a country dog, he’s settling in beautifully in the city.
May they alwaaaays be togetherrr.
If you’re able, please consider donating to Gimme Shelter Animal Rescue, so they can go on saving helping dogs like Benny!
