Rescue Lab Drags His Owner 20 Feet To Safety After She Suffers A Debilitating Fall

Janet Wilhelm was putting dog food in a bin in her garage when she suddenly slipped and fell. She landed on her hip, breaking it 5 places. She had no phone on her, and no one home to call for help, except her rescue pup, Mabel, a black Lab who Janet and her husband rescued three years ago.

She told USA Today, “I grabbed her collar and she started backing up towards the house,” she said. “I was like ‘What is she doing? She’s trying to get away from me,’ I thought.” As it turns out, Mabel was actually dragging her back into the house, so Janet could call for help.

It took them an hour and a half to go 20 feet. If that is not loyalty, I don’t know what is.

The doctor pointed out that if it weren’t for Mabel, Wilhelm would’ve been stranded on the ground for eight hours, which would’ve complicated her recovery.
