Miracle Dog Survives Fatal Car Crash, But That’s Not The Miracle

It was not his time to die.

The Internet is a-flutter with the tale of an Alabama dog named Lazarus, who, like his namesake, apparently rose from the dead.

Not only did this four-year-old dogged doge survive what should have been a lethal car crash, but after undergoing two euthanasia procedures by the Ozark City Animal Shelter (two because after the first, the vet detected a faint heartbeat, so gave him another injection) shelter workers found him alive and kicking the very next morning.

With such a fierce determination to live, shelter volunteer Cathy Blakenship posted what happened on Facebook, renewing her attempts to find him a home (she had previously tried to place him before the euthanasia procedures). The story went viral, and Two by Two Rescue stepped up and took the dog in. Now, the black-and-tan shepherd mix is being fostered by Jane Holston, one of the heads of Two by Two.

What makes the story even more amazing? Lazarus has bounced back and shows no fear of people, a puppy who is just happy to romp around in the world.

“He’s not skittish, he’s not afraid of anything, anybody, any sounds. I mean, it’s just amazing what all he has been through,” Holston told the Associated Press.

Lazarus, you are truly a Wonder-Dog.
