Partially Paralyzed Pit Bull Puppy Lieutenant Dan Is Learning To Walk (Be Still Our Hearts)

A couple of months ago, we brought you the inspiring story of Lieutenant Dan, a rescued Pit Bull puppy suffering from Hindlimb Paresis. Although the condition renders him limited control of his back legs, Lieutenant Dan is determined not to let his disability prevent him from leading a full life.

We’re now very happy to share that this sweet and strong pup is learning to use his back legs! Lieutenant Dan posted some exciting updates last month on his Facebook page, and the strides he has made are incredible — literally.

Lt Dan posted several sneak peeks into his physical therapy exercises at Chicago-based Integrative Pet Care. Based on these videos, it looks like things are going well for the persevering pup!

The progress that Lieutenant Dan continues to make is remarkable. As you might recall, it wasn’t too long ago that he (admirably) made his way around like this:

Now, Lieutenant Dan is enjoying walks in the park…and making it look like a walk in the park:

Lieutenant Dan’s enduring story is a compelling testament to the power of perseverance and the loving nature of Pit Bulls. With love and support from our family and friends, we are all capable of overcoming difficult circumstances.
