Police officers come across odd situations when out on patrol, and sometimes they lead to a happy ending.
When officer Ashley Acord thought she saw someone coming out of a vacant home in Baltimore, she called for backup. “No one was supposed to be there,” Acord told The Baltimore Sun. A search of the home confirmed that there was no one in the house. No one, that is, but a gray and white pup tied to a doorknob.
The terrier mix reacted to his cop friends without fear. “He didn’t show any signs of aggression. He just seemed like he wanted attention.” So Acord drove the pup to Baltimore Animal Rescue and Care Shelter, bonding on the short ride.
I wanted to, at least, see the dog go to a good home.
Before leaving, she put in an application to adopt the male 10-month-old puppy. His family never came to collect him, so BARCS contacted Officer Acord.
The pair is now living happily ever after, and according to Acord, Grayson is “just really sweet, and has a lot of energy. So far, so good.”
