Four years ago a New Mexico police officer came home to discover every pup parent’s nightmare: His dog was missing. Officer Kevin Smith believes his civilian husky Zeus was stolen from his backyard, and despite microchipping and countless missing fliers, there were no leads on the dog’s whereabouts for four long years. But when Angela Stell spotted Zeus and put him on her Facebook page, one of Smith’s relatives recognized him and the two were reunited.
Smith now knows why it took so long to get his best friend back: The info on Zeus’s microchip was out of date. So may this be a lesson to us all, dog guardians, make sure your pup’s microchip leads back to you!
