Pop-up shops seem to be all the rage these days. The concept is relatively simple. Sellers (often small, independent ones) appear in a temporary retail space, offer their products to consumers and then disappear. They can be found in cities all over the world, from Ontario to London, NYC to LA.
While pop-up shops are popular, pup-up shops seem to make a good idea even better. Pup-up shops are true to their name – a space filled with (adoptable) puppies. Plus, they offer a more lasting – and far more cuddly – result than snagging a designer dress or piece of art. (Plus, all of the proceeds go to help save MORE dogs!)
You might recall that last year, Bark & Co held the first ever pup-up shop in the SoHo neighborhood of NYC. Its goal was simple – connect people who want a puppy with puppies who desperately need a loving home. It was a resounding success and many rescue pups found their forever home.
Nearly a year later – and across the country – the nonprofit Michelson Found Animals, which works to find creative ways to reduce euthanasia in shelters, is opening Adopt & Shop. It is LA’s largest nonprofit humane pet adoption and retail center. Unlike the pup-up shop, this space is permanent.
Its unique adoption experience is truly a one-stop shop, offering easy pet adoptions for loveable rescue animals in need of a home, while donating proceeds from product sales and services back to animal shelters. Adopt & Shop also offers daycare, grooming services and training classes. Adopt & Shop celebrated its grand opening on May 13th. If you’re local, be sure to check it out!
