Everyone Thought This Puppy Had Frozen To Death, But One Rescuer Saved Her Life

When a Tennessee homeowner spotted an 11 week old puppy lying in his front yard, he thought the dog was dead. It was freezing outside and the dog was so tiny that he didn’t think there was any possibility that the pup was alive. A miracle happened when Officer Jason Wilson responded to the scene – the fragile puppy whimpered when the officer went to pick her up.

Jason couldn’t believe she was alive. He covered her up and rushed her to his car. He took her to Andes-Straley Veterinary Hospital where she is currently receiving medical care. Rescuers named the little puppy “Elsa,” in honor of the queen from Disney’s Frozen.

Unlike the heroine for which she was named, cold definitely bothers this Elsa. When she arrived at the hospital, she was suffering from frostbite, dehydration, and possibly pneumonia. One of her eyes is also badly injured, as it was pressed against the frozen ground while she waited for someone to save her.

Veterinary nurse Travis Miller told Times News:

Right now we are having to hand feed her with a syringe every couple hours and have her on heating blankets. We started her on antibiotics and warm IV fluids. She’ll lift her head up, but she’s still not right by any stretch.

Elsa is safe, but she has a long journey of healing ahead of her. We’re certain that with her brave spirit combined with the love and care of her rescuers, she will make a full recovery. You can follow her progress on the Andes Straley Veterinary Hospital Facebook page.
