Little Tumbles is one lucky pup, although you may not think so when you first see him. The adorable blond Terrier/Beagle mix was born missing his two front limbs in October.

His original owners were worried that he wouldn’t be able to compete with his litter mates for their mother’s milk. They surrendered him to Friends of the Shelter Dogs in Athens, Ohio.
Tumbles was placed in an experienced foster home and has been thriving over the past few weeks. He has even developed his own method of “walking,” pushing off with his rear legs and using his nose to move himself forward.
When photos of Tumbles appeared on social media, a kind supporter reached out to the shelter with a design for a custom 3-D printed wheelchair.
Humans at the Ohio University Innovation Center offered to help create the tiny two-wheeled contraption. They’ve also volunteered to provide their services to Tumbles as he grows and changes.
As you can see from the videos, Tumbles’ first trial with his new wheels was a little rough. With physical therapy to ensure that the muscles in his rear legs develop properly and lots of practice, Tumbles will become a pro soon enough!
Representatives for Friends of the Shelter Dogs want the public to know that Tumbles is not yet ready for adoption. He still has a good deal of work ahead of him, but in the meantime, he is in great hands.
