The San Francisco Animal Care & Control, like many other organizations, likes to put up a few cute pictures of their adoptable animals. Giving a cute pup or cat a moment in the spotlight will obviously increase their chances of getting adopted. But when 4-month-old pup Carpe Diem was given the chance to shine … well, let’s just say that things didn’t go exactly as expected.
The San Francisco Animal Care & Control decided to give Carpe Diem, who had been there since June, a photo shoot to appeal to potential forever families earlier this week. But instead of giving puppy dog eyes, Carpe Diem gave the camera some of the silliest faces the world has ever seen. Soon his photos took the Internet by storm.
And it worked! Carpe Diem was adopted today!
And who wouldn’t want this adorable little guy? He may just be a 4-pound pup, but Carpe Diem’s got one giant personality. The San Francisco Animal Care & Control took a bunch of pictures of Carpe Diem. And his name is definitely appropriate. When given the opportunity, this pup really did seize the day.
The SFACC posted a collage of four photos of Carpe Diem making various silly faces. When given the chance to strut his stuff in front of the camera, Carpe Diem picked poses that just screamed, “I’ve got spunk,” and “Who you calling little?”
“Adopt Carpe Diem and you will OWN #MyWeirdDog,” they wrote. The tweet has since been retweeted 901 times and liked 1,876 times. And, luckily, somebody answered the call and adopted a weird dog to call their own.
The San Francisco Animal Care & Control spoke to BuzzFeed News about the little pup. He was a stray who wandered the streets of San Francisco before the San Francisco Animal Care & Control took him in.
We’re sure Carpe Diem’s going to make his new forever home a lot livelier now.
