The Beatle Barkers, The Most Important All-Canine Band Of All Time

Welcome to Bark After Dark, a series of hilarious but slightly unusual articles we post in the wee hours of the morning for you weirdos night owls. Not for the faint of heart, weak of stomach, or low of humor. Enjoy!

There has never been a band quite as influential to music and pop culture as The Beatle Barkers. Buddy, Rocky, Buster and Ringo: four pups from Liverpool, who changed the world of music furever. It all began in 1964, when they released their first single, “She Loves You.”

Their second hit, “I Want To Hold Your Hand” solidified the group as pup superstars.

“I Saw Her Standing There” marked the beginning of the Barklemania phenomenon, which swept through dog parks, and put bitches in heat across the country.

As their style evolved, as did their sound. “Ob La Di Ob La Da” introduced the world to a new kind of Beatle Barker genius… one with a lot more chickens.

In 1970, The Beatle Barkers broke up when Rocky’s owner made him start wearing a bark collar, but their legacy lives on.

The Beatle Barkers not only changed music, but it changed how the world listened to music. They were the barks of a generation, and for ten years were, “more popular than Jesus.”
