File this under “Amazing Ideas,” because the animal advocates at IKEA have come up with an incredible way to advertise adoptable dogs to the public.
As part of a new project developed by the Home for Hope campaign, the Animal Lovers League and Save Our Street Dogs partnered with Ikea to promote the idea that no home is complete without a dog. These organizations had a team take photos of adoptable dogs, make life-sized cutouts of the pups, and place them throughout select Ikea showrooms in Singapore.
Each cutout is equipped with a QR code that store visitors can scan and learn more about the featured dog. Each dog has its own individual bio set up when the QR code is scanned.
The Home for Hope website also raises another great point, stating “Home for Hope was borne out of a pressing issue. With a limited budget, most animal shelters can only afford to voice their messages using social media. Problem is, their followers are pet lovers, and most already own pets. Hence, adoption rates are low.”
A goal of the Home for Hope project is reaching a new audience of people looking to adopt a dog or who never previously considered the idea.
