To which Rowling replied:
.@Anna_musilli That dog is far too cute to be named Bellatrix. It's not too late to call her Luna, you know.

Bellatrix Lestrange, for those who having been living a rock for the past decade, is one of the most nefarious Harry Potter villains in the books. She is a sociopathic, pain-loving, animal-torturing, murderess (she kills Harry Potter’s godfather, Sirius Black) who Rowling enjoyed killing off.
FYI, just in case you aren’t as
obsessed familiar with the Harry Potter canon as others are, here are some other names that are probably not Rowling-recommended for your adorable fuzzbutt (Warning: Spoilers ahead).
Names you should NOT use for your pooch:
Lord Voldemort (duh)
Peter Pettigrew (he betrayed Harry’s parents, the rat-literally at times-b**stard)
Draco Malfoy (Harry’s school nemesis and also just a general snot rag)
Crab and/or Goyle (Malfoy’s muscle bullies who are also idiots)
Barty Crouch (he is instrumental in bringing Voldemort back from relative non-existence)
Names you totally SHOULD use:
Luna Lovegood (a loveable, ditzy witch from Hogwarts and a staunch supporter of Harry. Also already Rowling-pupproved 🙂 )
Hermione Granger (Harry’s best friend)
Ron Weasley (Harry’s other best friend)
Albus Dumbledore (the headmaster of Hogwarts and most powerful good wizard in the wizarding world–even Voldemort is afraid of him)
DOBBY!!!! (THE BEST HOUSE-ELF EVER!!!!)
Hagrid (Hogwart’s awesome gamekeeper and Harry’s friend)
Minerva McGonagall (a smart, no-nonsense Hogwarts Professor, and the head of Gryffindor House)
Harry Potter (again, duh)
A name to confuse people about your pup’s personality:
