Get ready to pretend you’ve got something in your eye… 7-year-old Owen Howkins suffers from Schwartz-Jampel Syndrome, a condition that leaves his muscles permanently tensed. Owen’s limited mobility made him reluctant to meet new people and make friends.
Enter Haatchi: a three-legged dog who also has trouble getting around. Nobody else wanted sweet Haatchi, but for Owen it was ruv at first sight:
“There was an immediate bond. It’s like they both knew that each other were different, and there was an instant acceptance of those differences and they were going to work together as a team,” said Owen’s stepmother, Collen Drummond.
Since Haatchi came into his life, Owen gained a newfound confidence. He happily chats with strangers about the joys of having a dog. We feel ya, Owen. High paws for rescues rescuing their hoomans!
