Love animals? Love music? Live in Brooklyn? If you answered yes to at least two of these questions, we hope to see you at The Rock Shop this Wednesday night when some of the best borough’s coolest cats downest dogs unite to bring you a night of musical motherpuppin’ magic.
“What’s better than a night of live, eclectic, epically awesome music?” you ask. The answer is quite simple: A night of live, eclectic, epically awesome music dedicated to the absolute neediest of NYC’s pups in need.
The Sean Casey Animal Rescue is a non-profit, no-kill shelter that rehabilitates and rehomes not only dogs, but cats, reptiles, birds, and small mammals as well. They take in animals with special needs who require emergency surgery and other costly medical care simply because nobody else will. They have been proudly serving New York’s Homeless Animals since 1998. They are, in short, a total dogsend.
Because so many of the animals that come to be cared for by the volunteers at Sean Casey suffered at the hands of irresponsible or negligent owners, SCAR also works tirelessly to educate the public on proper animal care. Sean Casey himself told the Daily News, “it’s infuriating…people just need to wake up and start taking care of their animals.”
There’s a diverse bounty of bands performing that night who have pledged all proceeds to the cause. So whether the songs you prefer are dirty harmonica-infused folk, energetic pop-rock, garagey psychedelic dreams, or a not-so-delicate blend of thump ‘n hump pocket, come out and show your support for amazing, local bands playing their hearts out!
