Though the ice over the lake had almost completely frozen, the temperature was just warm enough to melt patches of the ice. In other words, just warm enough to be dangerous.
When rescue crews in Andalusia, Illinois were alerted that a dog had fallen through the ice of a local lake, they didn’t hesitate to jump into action. But the furry individual who alerted them also deserves some credit.
It was the desperate barks of a fellow Black Lab that alerted authorities to the poor pup struggling in the ice. Fortunately for the water-logged Black Lab, his dog friend joined the humans to rescue the pup from the icy water in a joint species rescue operation.
As soon as the stranded dog was pulled from the water he was immediately put in the heated cab of a truck and supplied with blankets. The humans were nice enough to supply the dog with some warm helpings of ruv, and even a new name: Lucky. Learn more below.
