As restaurants and bars are becoming more dog-friendly, it’s not uncommon to see the a pup joining their human companions for a drink. But a dog working behind the bar and serving the drinks is not going to happen anytime soon… OR IS IT?!
In London’s Soho neighborhood comes a dog-lover’s dream: a temporary pop-up bar staffed entirely by, you guessed it, DOGS. The bar, which opened for one night only on May 6th, served patrons a free bottle of Kronenbourg beer by one of their adorable four-legged servers.
As you may have guessed, this pop-up was part of a PR stunt for Kronenbourg 1664 beer. Since Kronenbourg’s roots are in Alasce, France, it made sense that the staff was a team of expertly trained Alsatian dogs.
One question that many people have is how exactly these furry employees served the beer. Due to their lack of opposable thumbs, the dogs have to get creative with how they fulfill their bartending duties. Each dog wore a harness fitted with a miniature barrel on the front — the perfect size to fit and deliver a bottle of Kronenbourg, apparently.
Unsurprisingly, tickets to the event sold out almost immediately. We hope that this shows other bars that the world is ready for not only more dog-friendly bars but dog-run bars as well. Because really, is there any better pairing than drinking and dogs?
