Every once in a while a Corgi’s heart longs for other Corgi furiends, a safe haven where he can freely be himself. He won’t wonder if his bum is too big or if his body is too long. He can chase and be chased. On Sunday, May 22nd, we had that place.
Pup parents from all over Ohio—and even some out-of-staters—corralled their bodacious Corgi booties around the Alum Creek Dog Park in Columbus, OH, to celebrate the 2016 Ohio Corgi Meet-up hosted by Ohio Corgi Meet-ups.
Ammy the Corgi came all the way from Springfield, Illinois!
BarkBox had the very special honor of attending the palooza with prizes in hand. A station was set up right in the middle of the bark park for all pups and hoomans to enjoy! All proceeds from the ruffle tickets and goodies went to The Ohio Valley Pembroke Welsh Corgi Rescue, a regional affiliate of the Pembroke Welsh Corgi Club of America, Inc.
Aside from gawking over the BarkBox swag and all the cute booties bouncing and flouncing all over the place, some exciting things took place:
1. Love was found
“I am also pupper. Will you be my pupper?”
2. Derps were discovered
“I’m just going to keep smiling until you go away.”
3. Butts were sniffed
“You must be an out-of-towner.”
“I’m not a raffle prize, I’m the grand prize!”
5. Shoodles got muddy
My soul hurts a little bit, RIP Shoodles.
6. Races were run
“I’m just going to derp my way to the finish line!”
7. Balls were fetched
“Hey ma, I thtole a tennith ball from that Corgi over there.”
8. The sun was out and tongues were slobberin’
Side note for photo below: It’s difficult to know if this is Carson’s derp face, happy face, or sun-in-my-eyes face. Or maybe he’s just a full-time dingus.
“Pleath, juth take the picture, the thun ith in my eyethhhhhh!”
9. Models were discovered
“Hold on, get my good side.”
10. And selfies were taken
“Make sure to tag me on Insta.”
On top of all that, there was a Corgi Race, Hot Dog Eating, Best Trick, Cutest Tail, and Best Booty Contest! Some pups even went to the beach area for a quick dip in Alum Creek. They weren’t going to let last night’s thunderstorm ruin their fun! The proof is in #5, above.
If you didn’t get the chance to join the fun this year, make plans for next year! You can stay pup-to-date by following Ohio Corgi Meet-Ups on Facebook. See you next time Corgis of Ohio!
