Therapy dogs are usually seen giving love and affection to people in nursing homes, hospitals, or disaster areas. Which is why it makes total sense to me that they would also be around to comfort the poor suckers about to run in a race.
Of course, some people like running and other types of physical exertion so much it takes them to competitions far from home, so it was pretty adorable that the Pan Am Games in Toronto had a designated pre-race, puppy area for the international runners to snuggle as they stretch.
This is the first year the Pan Am Games brought in comfort dogs and it looks to have been a huge success! Considering all the stray dogs that were adopted at the Sochi Olympics, maybe pups will become an intrinsic part of sporting events!
Pawhaps then I’ll make it to a sporting event.
