Banker Bros Get The Boot, But Dogs Get A Warm Welcome At This French Restaurant

Financiers are no longer welcome at the Les Ecuries de Richelieu after several firms denied the establishment’s owner a business loan. Motivated by his success in 2015, Alexandre Callet hoped to open up a second restaurant and is now forced to drop the plans.

It seems that while the suit ‘n ties are banned, France’s local dogs are still very much invited. There’s no confusion here; we know this because it’s written out on Callet’s easel: “Dogs welcome, bankers banned (unless they pay an entry fee of €70,000).” That’s roughly $80,000.

But please, bring your Poodles and Frenchies and Bichons to keep you company while you dine. You ask that Pointer for a paw? He’ll give you both. Want to see the Papillon roll over? He’ll do it for the low low price of one bite of your cheese soufflé. These pups may not be able to give him the dough he needs, but they’ll do just about anything else. Plus, they’re super cute.

It took 20 tries to get the funds for his eatery 7 years ago, Callet tells The Local, and if he sees any familiar faces he doesn’t plan to let them sit. Thus far no such actions have been taken, but the dogs had better stay on their best behavior if they’d like to enjoy an evening of fine foods and complimentary water bowls.

C’est la vie!
