In a scene straight out of a movie, a stray Border Collie heroically leapt in front of a speeding truck to save a little girl’s life.
The brave act was witnessed by two neighbors.
“The little girl was coming off the curb and the dog stepped out in front of her keeping the car that was coming down through here from hitting her,” neighbor Charles Saxton told KOCO.
“He really was a watchdog, that truck came speeding down. They always do. He saved her life. Saved her from getting hit. I don’t know if it would have killed the girl or not but it mangled the dog pretty bad,” said Saxton, who was present when the incident happened.
The pup was first observed hanging around the area three weeks prior to the incident. Alfredo Carrasco, another resident of the neighborhood, told KOCO that the gorgeous Border Collie had just showed up and that the pup was really friendly. Carrasco also said that the pup was regularly fed by people around the area.
The pooch nicknamed “Angel” was seriously injured in the incident and suffered a broken leg. Residents ended up taking him to the Oklahoma City Animal Welfare department where he’s being treated for his injury.
