Spring break is finally here! If you’re headed out of town this April, there’s no reason why you should have to wait until you get to your destination to start relaxing. With this in mind, United Airlines has teamed up with local therapy dog organizations to add a little pup to your travels through their United Paws program.
United Paws works with local therapy dog organizations to bring dogs to airports. The program is aimed at helping passengers relax, and score some Instagram-worthy moments before they even step foot inside a plane.
Back by pup-ular demand, the United Paws initiative originally began in 2014. Mark Krolick, United’s Managing Director of Marketing, told Forbes the company was looking for a way to take the stress out of travel. The program has been a hit amongst dog-loving travelers ever since!
“Research shows that just petting a dog releases oxytocin, the hormone associated with bonding and affection, and also decreases levels of stress, helps us breathe easier and lowers our blood pressure.” Veterinary Consultant Dr. Walter Woolf
Passengers traveling through Chicago, Newark, Houston, Cleveland, Denver, Los Angeles, and Washington, D.C. will have the chance to visit with the friendly pups before they take off. The United Paws crew will be greeting customers from April 1 through April 3.
In addition to the fluffy snuggles and wet-nosed kisses, United will be donating $1 for each hashtag used on Twitter or Instagram with #UnitedPaws.
