Terry McGlade was wounded while serving in Afghanistan, but he says his service dog, Major, is the real hero in this story. McGlade suffers from PTSD, which often manifests in the form of seizures.
Major is trained to sense McGlade’s oncoming seizures and help him cope with the symptoms when they arise, but he really stepped up to the plate during his handler’s most recent attack.
McGlade’s phone is set up to easily call 9-1-1 by touch in case of an emergency. The impressive pooch was able to pull the phone from his companion’s pocket and called repeatedly for help. Major waited in the front yard until police arrived and led them to the back, where McGlade was unconscious. McGlade calls the Pit Bull mix his hero.
“Right now he’s my world. He’s basically an extension to my body. I don’t think I could operate in an everyday world without him right now,” Terry McGlade.
