“My litto babygurl! How’s my litto shquinky-faced snugglebutt! Gimme some kisses. Who’s my babyguh?! Who’s my little munchkin?? Is it you? IS IT YOU!?!?”
Show of paws, how many of you talk to your dogs this way?
I’ll be the first to admit — I do it all the time. RIP to my dog’s sanity. And my dignity.
Yep, just like many other dog lovers do: I see a dog — I start cooing. While it might be alright for us to speak that way to babies, a recent study’s results show that our dogs might not be digging the diminutives and high-pitched babytalk.
So what do dogs like?
Turns out a good ol’ petting sesh should please your pup plenty. At least way more than a “Good boy!” might. The dogs in the study also showed no signs of getting tired of the rubdown. Well, those of us owned by adorably demanding dogs didn’t need science to tell us that. 😀
