While here in the USA, we’re just starting to experience warmer weather (too warm, if you ask me), the southern hemisphere is heading into winter. Unfortunately, animals—particularly stray animals—often bear the brunt of these harsher elements, as they have nowhere to go to be safe and warm.
But in the Brazilian city of Curitiba, in a Barreirinha bus station, three stray dogs recently received a much-needed reprieve from the cold thanks to a little human kindness and love.
The employees of the bus station opened their doors to these animals, whom they named Max, Pitoco, and Zoinho, and gave them all food, water, and makeshift beds (old tires + blankets.) Of course, it’s not an ideal situation—like a forever home for all three dogs to spend the rest of their days—but it’s nonetheless a touching and deeply generous gesture.
In fact, local politician and animal lover Fabiane Rosa was so moved by the act that she shared the story on Facebook. Her post has since been shared over eleven-thousand times.
Said Rosa: “Congratulations to the terminal staff, everyone understands that these angels are there and have a right to be. So many companies in Curitiba could follow this example, adopting a pet.”
It goes without saying that we’re in full agreement with Fabiane Rosa. Hopefully, the kindness that the bus workers showed these three dogs—Max, Pitoco, and Zoinho—will inspire others to reach out and do good by other animals in need.
