1) Lakeside Cottage, Brimfield, MA

There’s nothing more relaxing than resting on an Adirondack chair, with your dog at your feet, on a gorgeous day. At the Lakeside Cottage in Brimfield, located at the foot of Little Alum Pond, you can do that and so much more. 2) Luxurious Country Home, Lyme, CT

This former old barn-turned-luxury home is where you can pamper your pooch while enjoying a much needed country retreat. Its proprietress, Caryn, offers doggie bowls, extra crates, beds and pet sitting, if needed. Located a few hours from major Northeast cities, Lyme offers gourmet restaurants, farmers markets, plentiful hiking trails, kayaking locations, and gorgeous beaches. Caryn has five suri alpaca and 40 chickens. When you arrive, a friendly Yellow Lab will greet you, but be sure to keep your dog away from the chickens!

3) Poplar House, Newport, RI

Close to 60 restaurants and hundreds of shops, this charming inn is blocks from the harbor, where you can walk your dog or find a waterview restaurant to enjoy a seafood meal with your pet. Walter from the Poplar House says his accommodations have been accepting dogs for 30 years, and they sure know how to take good care of them. The owners even walk their four-legged guests when the owners are away for extended periods of time.

4) Bode Miller’s Custom Estate, Carroll, NH

Don’t get us wrong, any pup who stays at the gorgeous estate of Olympian Skier, Bode Miller, is sure to feel like canine royalty. Humans, too, will find it exceptional. With four bedrooms, a gourmet kitchen, outdoor hot tub, and steam showers, you’re bound to have a splendid stay. With incredible views and shuttle service to Mt Washington, you can take your pup on a hike that she will remember forever… or at least until the next outing.

5) Darling Hill and Kingdom Trails, Lyndon, VT

This lovely cape is located on Darling Hill, considered one of the most scenic roads in Vermont. The town of Lyndon is recognized as the Covered Bridge Capital of Vermont’s Northeast Kingdom. At this rental, your dog will have access to 20 acres of property to run, roll around, or sunbathe. With tons of hiking trails in the Green Mountains calling your name, this charming house is what your dog…ahem, you, need for a relaxing Vermont stay.

Located in the center of the island and minutes from the most pet-friendly National Park in the country, this open plan home is ideal for your outdoorsy pup. Catch a trail right from the back door, come back to the comforts of home, and chill out on the porch with a good book as your dog snores below. For a fun outing, visit Bar Harbor, where many shops welcome your dog; walk the lovely Shore Path along the water, or get yourself aboard the Schooner Margaret Todd for a cruise along the islands of Frenchman Bay with your canine.
