Summer is here and it’s time to hit the open road! There’s no bonding experience quite like a road trip with your BFF, and every pup parent knows what a bummer it is to think about leaving your furry friend behind as you embark on an epic summer adventure. Thankfully, more hotels than ever are realizing that dogs are part of the family and deserve to be treated as such (some hotels, as you’ll see, may even go a little overboard!) Make sure to put these 10 awesome pet-friendly destinations on your travel itinerary this year.

1. Ritz Carlton Bachelor Gulch, Beaver Creek, CO

For those adventure ruving pups who also enjoy a taste of luxury, Ritz Carlton Bachelor Gulch is your home away from home. Nestled in the Vail Valley, this luxury resort has endless opportunities for hoomans to bond with their four-legged travel companions. Take advantage of one of the twice-daily guided hikes planned for you and your dog, then indulge in an in-room massage for the both of you. To cap off a perfect day, order from the extensive doggy room service menu with meals tailored to your pup’s age. Don’t forget to order dessert! Your pup will have a hard time choosing between peanut butter cookies or liver kisses – better order both, just to be safe.

2. Ten Thousand Waves, Santa Fe, NM

Ten Thousand Waves is the ultimate in relaxation. This Japanese-style day spa offers hot tubs and natural mineral baths. While your pup isn’t actually allowed in the hot tubs (let’s not get carried away here!) guests who rent a private tub are encouraged to bring their dogs along to hang out on the enclosed deck among the Juniper trees. Plus, the puppehs get an outdoor place to run around and their very own dog bed to relax in.

3. Casa Kenwood Guesthouses, Austin, TX

Austin was named one of the best cities to live in for dog owners—it’s no wonder, with it’s endless outdoor  adventures and over fifteen off-leash dog parks. When visiting, there’s no better place to stay than the Casa Kenwood Guesthouses. Only one mile from downtown—with the LadyBird Lake walking trail and cool South Congress shops—you and your pup will feel like you’re miles away from the city in this urban retreat. Enjoy the spacious outdoor area featuring a waterfall and firepit. Venture into the city to enjoy the many dog-friendly shops, restaurants or hiking trails, or leave your fur kid at home while you hit up one of Austin’s many local music venues. Your pup will be in good paws!

4. Olea Hotel, Sonoma, CA

Top ranked in the nation for pet-friendly hotels, Olea Hotel caters to the fancy pup with discerning taste. Greeted by a welcome basket full of treats, bowls and towels, your pup will feel right at home in the rolling hills of wine country. There are over 50 wineries in the area that are dog friendly, and many restaurants even have dog menus so pups can dine right alongside their hoomans. (Check out Howard’s Station Cafe and Garden Court Cafe). There’s lot of beautiful hiking in the area, too, but who has time for that when the wine’s flowing?

5. Topnotch Resort, Stowe, VT

You and your pup will both be tuckered out after hiking around Vermont’s Green Mountains. From birdwatching to canoeing to fishing, there’s no shortage of bonding experiences. After you’ve both worked up a sweat, head back to Topotch Resort for a little R&R. Topnotch’s spa offers a Rover Reiki massage treatment tailored just for your pup’s tired muscles, and afterward your pampered pooch can relax on her own fleece covered AeroBed. Oh, did we forget to mention the turndown service? Dogs get organic Mini-Bone treat in flavors like bacon and cheddar, carob-chip oatmeal, and liver and bacon.

6.  Mandarin Oriental, Miami, FL

For those party animals out there, Miami is the place to be, and dogs are no exception. At the Mandarin Oriental, pet parents have their choice of activities for their pups during their stay, including a Play Date with a certified dog trainer or a Training Date to help address problem behaviors. When they’re done working out, your pup can kick back and relax in a doggy bathrobe, or hit the town in a Swarovski crystal–studded shirt. If mom or dad are nursing a hangover from a wild night, the hotel staff will walk your dog once a day for free.

7. Hyatt Regency, Scottsdale, AZ

Hyatt Regency Scottsdale knows that pup parents never want to leave their fur kids out of an adventure. That’s why they appointed Uno (The Most Interesting Chihuahua In Scottsdale) as Ambassador of their 4Paws Program. Once your pup checks in, they’ll be welcomed with a custom-made bed topped with fleece covered pillows. The 4paws “beastro” menu includes veggie bruschetta, chicken risotto, and for those calorie-counting pups, organic dry dog food.

8. W Hotel, San Francisco, CA

The W Hotel’s P.A.W. (Pets Are Welcome) Program guarantees your pet can travel in style. Every dog gets a welcome packet with a toy, treat, tag, poo bags, and welcome letter with local pet-friendly  info. As if that’s not enough, guest rooms include a pet bed, food and water bowl, pet-in-room sign (to guarantee your pup’s beauty rest isn’t disturbed), and a snack at turndown. The San Francisco location even offers non-alcoholic Bowser Beer during happy hour so you and your pup can sip a cold one while you discuss the day’s adventures.

9. Loews Coronado Bay, San Diego, CA

While all Loews Hotel locations understand that traveling is way more fun with your pet, Loews Coronado Bay in San Diego offers a real Southern California experience. The pet program features a dog surfing package, which includes a lesson and doggie board shorts or a bandana. Pups can really work up an appetite shredding those waves, so your BFF will get to indulge in a special puppeh surf n’ turf dinner at the end of the day. Who knows, maybe your dog has what it takes to compete in the annual Loews Coronado Bay Surf Dog Competition, which takes place every June.

10. Kimpton Hotels, New York, NY

It’s hard to think of a hotel chain more accepting of pup ruvrs than Kimpton. All of Kimpton’s hotels welcome dogs with beds, treats, and toys – and many locations even have their own resident pups. Guests of The Muse Hotel can sign up for a pet package that includes a welcome basket of treats, a dog umbrella, and a doggy mani-pedi. Staying at 70 Park Avenue? Order up a doggy picnic basket that’s perfect for an afternoon in Central Park. It may be called “the city that never sleeps,” but your pup will rest easy.
