If you’re in the market for the cuddliest dog breed, we’re here to help. We consulted the American Kennel Club to learn which breeds are loyal, devoted and cuddly. However, it’s important to remember, all dogs are unique. Some dogs may simply be more snuggle-able than others!

1. Golden Retriever

Goldens are one of the most popular breeds for families. The reasons are multifold. They’re incredibly intelligent and loyal to a fault. They love snuggling with their family on the couch after a long day of running around outside.

2. Dachshund

They will take over your lap like it’s their personal throne.

3. Italian Greyhound

Sure, Greyhounds love to run around. But when not in motion, they’re content to laze around on the couch with you for hours at a time.

4. Chihuahua

Chihuahuas can be noisy, but they also make great lap dogs. This tiny pup can rest in your lap, in your arms or anywhere they fit! They just love to be held close.

5. Labrador Retriever

One of the most fun parts about having a Lab is when they forget their own size and think they’re a lap dog. If you’re looking for a dog that will never leave your side, this is the breed for you.

6. Newfoundland

These giant dogs are sweet and devoted. There’s a reason Nanny the dog in Peter Pan is a Newfoundland. These dogs are caretakers and will lie by your side as long as you let them.

7. Bichon Frise

Bichons are lovable little pups who don’t like to be left alone. They’re happy-go-lucky dogs who are ready to snuggle with you, your kids, your other dogs, your neighbors, your neighbors’ dogs, etc.

8. Pit Bull Terrier

Pit Bulls (or pibbles) are loyal to their owners and thrive on affection. Don’t be surprised if your Pittie flops on their back next to you on the couch and stays there. As long as you’re nearby, they’re happy.

9.Great Dane

If you bring a Great Dane home, prepare for a constant lapful. Like Labs, Great Danes often don’t know their own size. The will try to share the couch with you…despite being the size of the couch. These gentle giants are just looking for love!

10. Weimaraner

While this is a very active breed, it’s also one that needs a lot of attention from his family. Weimaraners are happiest snuggling up with every member of the family after a bit of playtime.
